To provide peer-to-peer
support and information to people having emphysema and other
health disorders related to Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (A1AD)
which is a rare hereditary condition characterized by a lack
of Alpha-1 proteinase inhibitor. Depending on the extent of
the deficiency and other variables, A1AD may result in damages
to the lungs, including slowly progressive, severe emphysema
affecting the lower lungs.
