Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this module, you will be able to:
- Identify the acceptability and repeatability criteria for spirometric maneuvers as defined by current ATS/ERS standards.
- Interpret spirometric data, including FVC, FEV?, FEV?/FVC ratio, and forced expiratory flow values, using a systematic approach.
- Classify obstructive ventilatory defects by severity using established grading criteria.
- Recognize flow-volume loop morphologies associated with upper airway obstruction, including fixed, variable extrathoracic, and variable intrathoracic patterns.
- Differentiate obstructive, restrictive, and mixed ventilatory patterns from spirometric data.
- Apply clinical context to spirometric findings to support diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making.
